Andra Nelki studied Graphic Design at the Central School of Art.

She worked as a picture researcher of history books for Weidenfeld and Nicolson for ten years and compiledThe Picture Researchers Handbook (David & Charles) in collaboration with Hilary and Mary Evans of the Mary Evans Picture Library.

She then worked as a photographer and was commissioned among others by Andre Deutsch, Reader's Digest and William Collins.

Nelki enrolled at The Polytechnic of Central London obtaining a BA with distinction in Photography.

It was there she developed an interest in old photographic processes such as salt printing and cyanotypes which led to a fifteen year cooperation with Linda McCartney resulting in Linda's 'Sun Prints' project with exhibitions at The Victoria & Albert Museum, The Royal Photographic Society and in New York.. (Book: Sun Print by Linda McCartney - Barrie and Jenkins 1988)

Nelki’s photographic studio is at Kennington in London where she specializes in editorial and promotional photography relating to the arts. Much of her work is for artists and crafts people working in Britain; the photograph of one such co-operation has been acquired by and is exhibited at Tate Britain.
